How could I possibly get bored of the high street at the moment. In fact it just seems to go from strength to strength. With the current economic climate and a sever lack of pennies to spend, I don't think I will be needing designer clothes for the time being - not with so many lovely high street options.

Second Hand Clothes

I am get quite addicted to second hand clothes lately. I have really curbed my buying of new clothes both for financial and environmental reasons but couldn't go completely without some sort of fashion fix. I just can't beleieve what goodies I am finding whilst about and about on my travels, popping into a charity shop here and there, a car boot sale on a Sunday morning and my favourite local second hand shop. The fact that the clothes are second hand doesn't make any difference to me. They are all completely clean and well looked after. I get so much more quality for my money when buying second hand than buying cheap clothes in the high street shops.

For example, a few weeks ago, I treated myself to a eighties vintage Paul Costelloe Suit, quilted black silk with small metallic gold dots all over, a pencil skirt and jacket with large shoulder pads. I also got a very nice safari style Burberry Prorsum top for less than the price of the cheapest and most unethically produced t shirt on the market. This week, a Jaeger jacket in a pink that remined me of the Luella SS09 collection, a ditsy floral maxi dress by Jigsaw and a chunky wood and bead necklace for a fraction of the cost of anything similar that I could buy new. I apologise for lack of photos of me wearig the clothes, but I still haven't managed to get a camera that will take good enough pictures.

Part of the enjoyment of buying second hand clothes for me is finding something really gorgeous and well made and also getting a real bargain. But mostly knowing that my shopaholic habits are not contributing to the environmental impacts caused by the disposal and manufacture of fast fashion.
