Weekly Fashion Round Up

Sunday, September 5, 2010

It has been another busy old week with blog posts galore. The highlight being the opportunity to write my post on 'How to green your fashion blog' on Independent Fashion Bloggers.

Other posts that I have been writing have included A themed wedding dress - I never had a theme for my wedding day but would love to renew my wedding vows with a twenties theme at some point (we have been married 11 years this month). I am also obsessed with animal print dresses and have listed my top ten favourites and am quite excited about the launch of the new Emma Watson collection with People Tree.

I can't wait for next week, which involves the launch of an exciting new website which will involve working with some of my favourite fashion bloggers. There will also be a giveaway with tickets to an exciting event in London. Also Mr Style Eyes is on the hunt for a retro VW camper van ready for festivals for next year. I can't wait, I am planning to kit it out with antique china, floral bunting and lots of other retro goodies.
Other stuff that has caught my eye, is Curve Id from Levis. I have always had trouble finding the perfect fitting pair of jeans and I think this is a great idea. Often my jeans are tighter on the hips and loose on the waist so I think bold curve might be just what I need.

Thats it for today. Thanking everyone for their lovely comments which brighten up my day(and really mean a lot to me). Hoping you have a fabulous week.

Have an amazing week.

Trend Fusion

Monday, May 10, 2010

I was delighted to see sunshine when I opened the curtains this morning and couldn't wait to pick out summery outfit (of course it wasn't as warm outside as I was hoping). I have a very short attention span and even though I have hardly had a chance to wear my summer clothes yet, I am starting to get a bit bored of some of the trends for SS10, I suppose I have been looking at them and thinking about them for the past 6 months. Perhaps time to think of new ways of wearing them. Today I decided to mix up some of the trends, so here is my mixture of military (the trousers and jacket)and stripes with a little animal print (the scarf) thrown in. Do you get quickly bored with your clothes, if so, what do you do for a different look?

A Beach Safari and the Best of British Eco Fashion Blogs

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

As I seem to have spent such a lot of time working lately, yesterday, I decided to take a much needed break and take the children to the beach at Weston Super Mare for the day. I love Weston Super Mare and had a great time making sandcastles and watching children taking donkey rides. Unfortunately I forgot to take my camera but hopefully I will go back again soon and can take lots of lovely pics.

As the weather is at that sort of in betweeny stage (not sure if it is winter or spring) I couldn't make up my mind what to wear. Not quite warm enough for t shirt and shorts but out of the wind and with the sun out, it did get quite warm. The answer - one of my trusty cardigans (from George at Asda). I decided to go for a safari theme with a mixture of animal skin pattern and the lovely Antelope T shirt recently sent to me by Your Eyes Lie. The tribal style necklace was a present from my mum a while back.

I was really pleased today to recieve an email from Eco Fashionista, informing me that Style Eyes had been featured in the best of British Eco Fashion Blogs post for their special features in the run up to Earth Day.It is great to get some recognition for my constant struggle (OK perhaps it's not that difficult) to wear sustainable clothing, recycle and refrain from buying clothes that I do not need and whilst also trying to promote sustainable clothing to others. The other blogs featured were Eco Princess and Eco Goddess Fashion. I would definitely recommend a visit to them, for great ideas on how to be both sustainable and stylish.

SS10 trends - more pattern mixing - check and animal print

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

As there were so many different examples of pattern mixing on the catwalk, I though I would try to make a few ore outfits from the clothes that I have in my wardrobe. Actually, I could probably go on and on. This outfit is a fairly subtle example of pattern mixing and a complete contrast to the bright florals and polka dots in my last pattern mixing post, with a brownish animal print scarf and black and white check jacket. The leggings have tiny hearts all over them which you can't really see.

Jean Charles De Castelbajac - call of the wild

It was well publicised earlier in the year that Jean Charles De Castelbajac had shown a collection filled with muppets including Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. The rest of his collection was less talked about and publicised but equally eyecatching.

With shoulders being such a key feature in so many collections this season, JC De Castelbajac has used an unusual and innovative way to highlight the shoulders on these clothes. Animal pictures are a another key trend that has been rumbling away for a few seasons and animal skin prints never really seem to go away. Both animal pictures and leopard print are both difficult to pull off with style and without looking twee or dated in a kind of Pat Evans (nee Butcher) way. I think Jean Charles has managed to make these work with just the right of humour. I love these offbeat eccentric pieces and I want that biker jacket.
