Winter sequin essentials - dress, skirt, top, leggings, shorts

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Who would have thought that anything embellished with sequins could be described as essential, but this winter sequins look set to be one of the must have trends for both daytime and evening. I love the idea of adding a bit of sparkle to a daytime outfit and if cleverly combined with grey and neutral colours sequins can look amazing without looking too much. You can choose from metallic, black and multicoloured sequins to create whatever look you like.

Wholly Cow AW09/10 Bound to Please

I always look forward to that time of year when Wholly Cow release their latest collection. So here is the autumn winter collection from Wholly Cow entitled 'Bound to Please'. As usual this collection is something fresh and a bit different, but designer Lisa Germaney does not let her creativity get in the way of making beautiful but wearable clothes. I have bought clothes from the last two Wholly Cow collections and I can vouch for the high quality.

This collection is made of a mix of wool, chiffon, brocades, fine knits and organic cotton, lots of ribbon ties, straps and wraps with D. ring fasteners. It was inspired by art, music and music icons such as Siouxsie Sioux, so a nod to the rebellious past whilst also feeling of the moment.

I love the pure wool micro coat which is a great variation on the traditional proportions of many outfits. This very short cropped jacket works really well for petites giving the illusion of a longer body. I also love the matching skirt and top with straps and D rings.

Topshop AW09 - boots, sequins and studs

Saturday, August 22, 2009

I am writing this post at 5am on a Sunday morning (don't ask), so forgive me if I it is slightly rambling and lacking in clarity. But when I opened my emails to find (amongst several hundred other emails) a mailshot about the Topshop AW09 collection, I couldn't resist a little look. The look book centered around four main themes. There was just one thing that really jumped out at me - the boots.

As part of my carefully planned winter wardrobe, I have already decided that I will be needing some new boots and was pretty excited to see what is on offer. I couldn't believe it when I spotted the over the knee boots. Although I am really unsure how these will work on someone only 5ft 2 tall, I am going to have to give them a try out anyway. I was pretty disappointed to find the electric blue ones were not for sale but consoled myself with the fact that they had some flat options (perfect for everyday wear). I also love the lace up boots, perhaps I will give these a try aswell!

Whilst none of the lookbook outfits really appealed to me (but then I am probably slightly older than your average Topshop customerr) there were plenty of individual items that I really liked.

Not sure about this one - all that drippy blood writing is not really my thing.
