Floral Overload

Monday, June 27, 2011

To celebrate the 2nd birthday of her blog on 6th July, Intrinsically Florrie has decided to have a virtual tea party and is inviting both bloggers and non bloggers to join in by sending a picture of their floral outfits. I love Intrinsically Florrie for her amazing fkoral outfits and this was the perfect opportunity for me to have a go at mixing up my own multi floral outfit. Florries outfit includes a total of 16 floral items. I wasn't able to cram quite this many into my outfit but managed 6. If I had some floral tights and the weather permitted I would have happily worn them plus floral nails and floral sunglasses.

Cardigan- Marks and Spencers
Dress - People Tree
Shoes - Temps De Cerises
Hair Flower - Dorothy Perkins
Bag - Vintage
Necklace - a present from my sister

The bag is vintage and was a recent purchase from Oxfam. Unfortunately it was quite a bit smaller than expected but was so pretty, I couldn't bring myself to send it back. It does however fit my iphone just perfect so make a great iphone case. The dress is part of a collaboration between People Tree and Laura Ashley where there have used vintage Laura Ashley prints and recoloured them to make them up to date. If you like it, they have quite a few items from this collection including this dress and a very nice cropped jacket in the same fabric at half price here.

I also spent this week making cupcakes for my daughters birthday. She was insistent that I should make them rather than buying them and actually I was glad I did as I really enjoyed it. I did cheat a little buy buying ready made frosting and sugar flowers. Next time I might get a little more creative and try making my own frosting.

Hope you had a lovely weekend. What is your favourite floral outfit?

Mothers Day and Early Birthday Pressies

Monday, April 4, 2011

As Sunday was Mothers Day, I was very lucky to be treated to a big bunch of flowers and breakfast in bed by Mr Style Eyes and cards and homemade pressies from the girls. My breakfast crosisants were scoffed by the girls who decided to join me in bed, never mind they only would have gone straight onto my hips!

Dress - People Tree
Denim Jacket- Swapped on Posh Swaps
Handbag - Charity Shop
Belt - Next
Shoes- Spartoo

It is my birthday soon and as there was a 20% off day at People Tree my Mum treated me to this dress that I have had my eye on for a while. It is part of a collaboration with Laura Ashley where they have taken vintage prints from their archive and updated the colours for today. I love the colour and print on this dress, perfect for a bit of pattern mixing. There are also some great jackets and a jumpsuits in  the collection which I love but I chose this dress as I thought it would get the most wear.

I also got a beautiful beaded necklace, again from People Tree, I love the bright primary colours and beautiful detail in it. I am feeling very lucky!

Hope you had a lovely weekend.

With warmest wishes

Style Eyes Weekly Fashion Round Up 3/2/11

Thursday, February 3, 2011

Last week I wrote about the Emma Watson collection for People Tree collection but I forgot to mention the equally if not more exciting collaboration between People Tree  and Laura Ashley. Packed with beautiful floral prints from the Laura Ashley archive collection and brightened up with contemporary colours for the modern day, this has given me yet more to lust over. The collection will be sold online and instore.

Margie of Margie Hearts Clothes has recently set up an Etsy shop Margie Hearts Vintage through which to sell her reworked vintage jewellery. She makes the most amazing headpieces and hand chains, really unique and beautiful. I definitely recommend a visit!

The Shopping Forecast has just launched some amazing fashion competitions where you can win lots of clothes. You can make an outfit with items from the site or a royal wedding themed outfit. If your outfits get the higest average vote or the most votes, you get £200/$300 to spend on clothes on the site. You can also earn points by voting, commenting sharing items and outfits from the site. The top five points earners each season can exchange their points for clothes.

Finally I have decided to get up with times and invest in a little technology to perhaps make my life a little easier when travelling. Depsite many people saying that Blackberrys are better, I decided to get an I phone 4. I am a bit of a techno phobe and I though it just looked easier. I was just wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere to buy an amazing cover so that it doesn't get ruined in my handbag (I did see a Lulu Guiness one) and any good aps (I don't even know where to start).

With warmest wishes
